The application engineer works on design, implementation, administration and monitoring database management systems and brings consistency, quality, and security in the databases. They work with the Product owners, team members and architects to understand and align on the roadmap and help team build a strong backlog for supporting database operations and modernization efforts. Should be proactive in identifying areas for improvement within the database related to database and query tuning and provide solutions to address the same.
Responsibilities
Achieves product commitments (and influences others to do the same) by using informal leadership & highly developed communication skills and contributes to or led technology communities
Uses automation, system tools, open-source solutions, observability and 'security first' principles in daily work
Contributes to team agile ceremonies, leads demos and presentations, helps new engineers learn established norms
Initiates high level solution design approaches, and guides team to achieve desired key software delivery capabilities using automated, coded enterprise and observability
Participates in internal speaking and advocacy events
Supports research activities to adopt new technology solutions in ways of developing new capabilities
Continues professional education and create opportunities for core product teams to learn engineering best practices
Coaches immediate chapter and is actively fosters the adoption of new technologies
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
Bachelors – Computer Science or related
3+ Years – (Software) Engineering, DevOps or related
Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale
Preferred Qualifications
Bonus Points If You Have:
MS-SQL Database Administration in a Windows environment
MS-SQL Database tuning techniques to improve Database performance
Always-on configuration in IAAS and on-prem servers
Database backups, Disaster Recovery, & High Availability Design
Understanding of MS-SQL Server Security
Database patching methodologies
Automation methodologies and driving out manual processes
Disaster recovery configuration and testing
Setting observability for MS-SQL Server using tools like Datadog, etc.
Programming knowledge including stored procedures, triggers, database/data model design, SQL Tuning, etc

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $86,500.00 to $146,100.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
