Job Description:
The Hematology/Oncology Division is a multi-disciplinary service covering Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals, and a member of the larger Beth Israel Lahey Health System. Our Community Cancer program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons and offers patients multidisciplinary cutting edge and compassionate care. In this setting, providers, nurses, along with the nurse practitioners are the team that is able to care for the patients and their families in a comprehensive manner to meet all the needs of those receiving treatment for both malignant and benign hematology and oncology diagnoses.

Responsible for practicing in both Beverly and Gloucester, MA
32 Clinical hours
4 administrative hours, with remote flexibility
No after-hours call coverage required
4 MD’s on staff; responsible for supporting all 4.
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Perform a variety of duties in the evaluation, treatment plan and care, diagnoses and follow-up of assigned patients.
Responsible for history, physicals, admissions, coordination and symptom management of hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy and shared radiation therapy patients.
Responsible for obtaining patient consents, providing daily care including order chemotherapy, referring to other specialties, discharging, transferring and responding to patients and families.
Responsible for chemotherapy / infusion room coverage on the site assigned for the day
Develop knowledge of the solid tumor and hematology malignancies and blood disorders, of the disease processes, and of the treatment and management modalities across the cancer-care continuum.
As an intricate member of the team, the AP must be able to successfully collaborate with other disciplines including but not limited to other internal or external medical or surgical specialties, social work, nursing, palliative care, psychiatry, pharmacy, research and nutrition.
The AP will also become familiar with common complications experienced by hematology and oncology patients and gain expertise regarding appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
Qualifications:
Graduate of a Master’s in Nursing program or a Physician Assistant program
Certification and current NP or PA license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
