As part of the Goodreads Mobile team, you will join us in developing the Goodreads app for Android, support Goodreads features in the Kindle Android and Fire apps, and Kindle EReader devices. This is an opportunity to reach a huge user base on one of our fastest growing platforms and enhance the experience of Goodreads and Amazon readers worldwide.
As a Software Development Engineer on the Goodreads Mobile team , you will:
Design, build and own the Goodreads Android app as well as the Goodreads integrations on Kindle apps and Kindle eReader.
Be a key player on the Goodreads team and bring flexibility, speed, and quality to the team
Partner with other Goodreads teams as we transition into a Mobile First org
Work with teams to develop and improve overall architecture
Work in a fast-paced environment where releases are done every 4 weeks.
You are the ideal candidate if you are equally comfortable writing code and defining technical architecture. You must have a deep understanding of Android platform, service-oriented architecture, and application design, as well as flexibility and a passion for learning new skills. The successful candidate will thrive in a culture of experimentation and innovation, but also have a proven track record of delivering results to solve challenging problems.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
