Position Summary:
Prepares itinerary analysis to identify global tax issues relating to ship deployment; prepares VAT, GST, Freight Tax, income tax, and other global tax filings related to ship deployment; assists in preparation of state, local, and miscellaneous state tax filings; prepares Income Tax provisions and tax forecast; assists in the calculation of ASC 740 (FIN 48) and ASC 450 and preparation of required footnotes and disclosures; assists in gathering data for examinations by global tax authorities; maintains accounting brands and VAT flags for all ships/voyages in AS400; assists the Operations, and Deployment team with any tasks and projects as necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Research to determine the international direct and indirect tax impact and consequences of proposed deployment and ships' itineraries and prepare memoranda to document tax positions taken and advice obtained. Assists in supporting the shipboard team during the various tax seasons to comply with local tax laws and regulations.Assists in calculating ASC 740 (FIN 48) and preparing required footnotes and disclosures.Prepares Income Tax forecasts, provisions, and true-up journal entries.Gathers appropriate data and analyzes accounts and GL records to prepare all indirect tax VAT, GST, sales & use tax, property tax, Freight Tax, and other US/global tax returns. Reviews certain tax returns and calculations prepared by outside consultants. Respond to requests from vendors, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing for sales & VAT tax exemption certificates.Prepares and coordinates timely tax payments to various income tax authorities (Italy, Spain, China, Australia, India, & Brazil).Reconciles tax accounts and prepares budgets and forecasts of VAT, GST, Freight Tax, and other global taxes.Assists in global tax audits and responds to notices from tax authorities relating to the above-mentioned tax filings. Performs tax research of existing or proposed transactions and projects and document research in a technical memorandum.Engages in special projects as needed by the Deployment team, including but not limited to ship deployment taxes and tax restructuring.Serves as a resource for tax department management in assisting with the day-to-day issues and inquiries arising from all company areas.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, concentration in taxation desirable. Certified Public Accountant or candidate preferred. two plus years of experience at a public accounting firm or in-house corporate tax department preferred.
