Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full-time Early Career Airframe Structural Analyst. In this role, the Airframe Structural Analysis Group is responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of the airframe fuselage, landing gear and propulsion installations and all other interfaces to airframe fuselage, including electrical, controls and dynamic systems attachments.
Structural integrity responsibilities cover composite and conventional structures and extend from conceptualization on through development, manufacturing and field service support. In fulfilling its function, adherence to the appropriate design criteria and other directives mandated by the customer and or regulatory agencies is strictly maintained.
General functions: Static structural analysis and Margin of Safety determination, fatigue and fracture mechanics analysis of critical interfaces, field support (repair design/analysis), production support, and formal engineering documentation. Analytical processes include classical closed form solutions as well as finite element analysis.
Additional functions: Determination of airframe component replacement and / or retirement times, specification and design of airframe related static and fatigue tests, flight test instrumentation and limits.
Travel requirements are minimal (less than 10%).
Position currently requires working in Stratford office a minimum of 2 days/week (Tues/Wed) for total of 20 hours. The rest of the work week can be performed either in the Stratford office or from home (remote). This is subject to change to be up to 4 days/week in Stratford office but currently no plans to change.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Civil Engineering from an accredited college
- A course of study that includes statics and strength of materials or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools
Desired Skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong technical problem solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office products.
- A course of study with emphasis on the principles of statics, kinematics, strength of materials, aerospace structural analysis, and numerical analysis methods.
- Stress analysis of composite structures typical of aerospace. Linear structural finite element analysis.
- Programming (e.g., VB, Java, Python, Matlab).

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
