V2X has become a major force in the field of aircraft maintenance. We proudly support all four branches of the military in performing Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot level aircraft, ground vehicle, and component maintenance. We have an opportunity, for an Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic to support our Naval Air Station Oceana, VA, FRCSE team. FRCSE provides intermediate and depot-level repair for structural, mechanical, avionics, and engine component programs for aircraft and aircraft engine weapons systems. We will be reviewing resumes of qualified candidates for future hires.
Responsibilities
The Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic will perform PMI 2 overhaul corrosion inspection and repair as well as Depot level repairs, including Structural mods as they are released to be incorporated.
Perform structural repairs on FA-18 E-G aircraft including heavy structure repair and replacement as needed.
Will need to be proficient in reading blueprints, work orders, fabrication, installation and repairing a variety of aircraft parts and systems made from a wide variety of metals, stainless steel, D6AC steel, titanium, honeycomb, alloys, and aluminum.
Will work with hand and power tools, cold working equipment, drills, step and straight reamers, hammers, shears, band saws, drill presses, punches, box and pan breaks, rotary machines with extra forming rolls, slip role forming machines, crimping machines, de-burring machines, wrenches, and torque wrenches to make repairs on aircraft parts and structures.
Will identify and remove corrosion and apply preservatives such as alodine, polyurethane primer, and epoxy paint along with several different corrosion preventative compounds to prevent corrosion.
Qualifications
Education / Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
At least two (2) years of documented experience in Aviation Structural Repair.
Experience from military fixed/rotary wing community (Fixed wing platform F-14, F-18, F-15, F-16) or civilian heavy structure background is preferred.
Military installation DEPOT level and/or major MRO facility maintenance experience preferred.
