Job Description Summary: The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is accepting applications and resumes for the position of Agricultural Marketing Resource Coordinator. The Agricultural Marketing Resource Coordinator reports to the Director of the Division of Agricultural Markets and supports the enhancement of marketing strategies through the implementation of marketing and promotional initiatives and collaboration with stakeholders.

Duties:
• Administer Buy Local Projects including the development of Requests for Responses (RFR), execution of contracts and contract management throughout the fiscal year.
• Work with stakeholders to support greater use and visibility of the MassGrown...Fresher brand. Attend meetings and conferences of various commodity and farm organizations to stay abreast of marketing trends and techniques and to consult with organization members.
• Research and assemble data to support planning, organizing, and development activities associated with new or existing marketing systems.
• Recommend or assist in preparing policies and procedures related to agricultural marketing programs. Respond to questions or inquiries concerning marketing information or programs through written correspondence or personal contacts.
• Responsible for the coordination and approval of Agricultural Event Certifications for wine sales at farmers' markets. Develop and update procedures for program effectiveness, review and make recommendations for application approvals. Consult with manager and legal office in review of applications, as needed, and communicate department approvals to applicants while maintaining program database and files.
• Dairy Tax Credit Program, coordinate with the Fiscal Office to annually administer the Dairy Tax Credit to dairy farmers. Maintain annual updates to the dairy tax credit website, the dairy tax credit application, and mailing list. Respond to dairy farmer inquiries and requests for assistance. Assist the Fiscal Office with maintaining the Dairy Tax Credit database regarding monthly production reports or other tasks, as necessary.
• Help and support Division staff with MDAR booth set-up/staffing at industry and consumer events. Assist with special projects as needed.
• Assist in the development of new initiatives as well as the evaluation of current programing to further implement the goals and objectives of the Division as well as the Department.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
The position requires knowledge of marketing concepts, general marketing and promotional procedures as well as the ability to develop clear written documents, develop and implement marketing, communication and promotional plans in support of the Division and Department initiatives.
• Previous experience and/or knowledge of marketing and promotion; preference working in the agricultural and food sector.
• Background in MA State Procurement Laws and processes.
• Background with contract management.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Must be proficient in MS office products.
• Expertise to operate independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge or understanding of event planning and execution.
• Ability to travel and attend events that may include nights and weekends.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the-required experience.
II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.
III. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
