Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Agile Program Manager/ Release Train Engineer (RTE). This individual will be responsible for the management and execution of value streams to support the delivery of strategic technology products. They will foster Lean-Agile principles and help balance lean-agile execution and program management activities to deliver solutions more effectively. This role will heavily leverage the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to drive lean-agile delivery within the release train.
The Agile Program Delivery Lead/ Release Train Engineer has primary purpose of supporting and coaching an Agile Release Train (ART) by steering it to success and navigating the complexity of delivering Projects/Product Delivery in large, cross-functional environments. The RTE helps resolve and escalate impediments, manages risk, helps assure value delivery, and drives program level continuous improvement.
Responsible for overall Scaled Agile ways of working facilitation. Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering continuous exploration processes and coaching that drives the synthesis of the Vision, Roadmap, Releases, and Backlogs, through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events. Facilitate the coordinated preparation and execution of release planning for the ART. Working with the ART team who prioritizes the features to be considered in the next program increment (PI) planning cycle and facilitating the ART team's refinement of features to be considered in the next PI planning cycle to meet the Feature Definition of Ready. Facilitate all program-level events, including PI Planning, Inspect and Adapt workshops, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and other relevant ART-level syncs. Summarizes Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives (the RTE) ensuring everything rolls up to the Vision and OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), for strategic execution alignment.
- Drive agility and improvement by managing risks and dependencies, escalates impediments to ensure value delivery. Proactively and consistently communicates with the team, business owners, and leaders to ensure all impacted stakeholders understand risks, issues, and activities related to the value stream. Manage and improve the flow of value through value streams by assessing and optimizing the practices associated with the team (DevOps, Product Owners, Security, Architecture, etc.) in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline.
- Functions as a servant leader fostering Lean-Agile Continuous Delivery, promoting and coaching Lean-Agile principles, empowering individual teams to become self-managing, and fulfill their cross-functional potential. Providing ad-hoc coaching and guidance to SMs, POs, and individual team members
- Contributes to strategic planning meetings and provides guidance and expertise on options, risk, cost vs. benefits, and impacts on departmental processes. Partners effectively with the portfolio manager, finance team, and other stakeholders to build strong lean business cases for product funding / budgets.
Skills and Requirements
- 10+ years focused on Project/Program Management with at least 1-2+ years fulfilling Release Train Engineer responsibilities
- Must have strong experience managing project financials, strong understanding of CapEx, OpEx, forecast planning and resource planning-- this is 100% your responsibility as the Agile Program Manager
- Has been successful at several different large IT organizations, making an impact when it comes to Agile Delivery and transformations -- has navigated different personalities and environments
- Ability to influence without authority, be an effective negotiator, and communicate with various organizational levels, including cross-functionally, at the frontline, and with senior leadership
- Demonstrate high level of interpersonal skill used to build relationships and manage conflict within the team, business unit, and cross-functionally. Well-developed capacity for emotional intelligence
- Experience implementing analytics, reporting metrics and dashboards that illustrate the flow of value through the train and reporting status updates and metrics to senior leadership on the performance and efficiency of the ART
- Experience leading muliple, complex workstreams and collaborates with various departments, including cross-interdependency projects, cross-functional and consultant team members assigned to several projects within a program, to ensure alignment to the value stream strategic objectives
- Advanced in negotiation, problem solving, critical thinking, and building effective relationships through rapport, trust and diplomacy with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders and vendors
- Experience measuring team delivery, maturity, and performance and creating reporting metrics and dashboards that illustrate the flow of value
- Demonstrated experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale teams from conception through implementation and ability to lead at a Program level, of at least a 50-person team
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate seamlessly with agile teams, peers, and senior stakeholders
- Advanced skill communicating and delivering presentations to virtual, in-person, and ELT level audiences
- Excellent interpersonal skills including coaching and mentoring large teams
- Proficient in standard MS Office, project management and agile tools
- Ability to effectively facilitate meetings, work sessions, and training, Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills, Detailed oriented with excellent follow-up practices
- Holds at least ONE advanced SAFe Certification - SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), or SAFe Program Consultant, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
- Bachelor's degree, Scaled Agile Framework Certification (SAFe) required SAFe Practice Consultant- T (SPCT) Consultant
- Additional advanced Agile Certifications
- Specific experience working in the Logistics/Supply Chain/Transportation Industry
- Specific experience working Azure DevOps Tool null
