Req ID: 404433
Do you have a background in technical information development? Do you have a talent for sifting through the noise to understand customer needs and then organize and develop technical content to meet those needs? Are you skilled in DITA, the XML standard for technical content across industries? Do you have a passion for helping technical writers to get on the DITA train?
If so, consider a career as an Advanced Product Information Architect for Siemens Digital Industries Software.
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leader in digitalization, automation, and electrification. We serve a variety of customers across various industries, including electronics and semiconductors, aerospace and defense, industrial machinery, medical devices, and automotive and transportation. Always looking to the future, we design, manufacture, and distribute products that drive digital transformation and enable a digital enterprise where today’s engineering, manufacturing, and electronic design meet tomorrow.
In a competitive marketplace with many software offerings that do essentially the same thing, companies are always looking for a competitive edge. At Siemens Digital Industries Software, we are committed to providing a competitive advantage by offering our customers superior information products. What makes a superior information product? It goes way beyond “checking the box” by meeting the documentation deadline. We take our commitment to our customers seriously. The root of our commitment is understanding our customers’ needs. We aim to develop and deliver information products that exceed our customers’ needs by delighting them with technical precision, domain relevance, and user-friendly interfaces.
As an Advanced Product Information Architect on the Architecture & Quality team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that we deliver stellar information products to Siemens customers. You will work closely with a large team of information developers that supports a variety of highly technical products. In addition to working with information developers, you will also work closely with a central engineering team that develops and maintains a DITA-based CCMS authoring and publishing environment. Your responsibilities will encompass various endeavors that comprise the role of an information architect, such as the following:
• User and task analysis
• Content model design and implementation
• Information mapping, categorization, and taxonomy development
• Prototype development for informational flows and user experiences based on usage scenarios

• Enhance existing information architectures to be more intuitive, interactive, and user-friendly.
• Formulate prospective informational designs for further development.
• Evaluate the performance of information architectures through analysis and data mining, including web usage metrics.
• “Spread the word” to team members about information architecture design principles and approaches.
“Spreading the word” is one of the key aspects of this leadership role. To support your colleagues in these endeavors, you will develop and maintain in-house resources such as documents, tip sheets, and slide decks. You might even get creative and create podcasts and videos. This is a fundamental aspect of your role; you will establish and maintain regular communication channels to support colleagues and field their questions as they develop stellar information products for our customers. In the near term, one of your major responsibilities in this role is to assist and support the information developer community as they adopt a new CCMS. This endeavor also involves bringing SMEs into the content development ecosystem. Beyond the near term, you will play a substantial role in helping our organization navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by generative AI in the customer support space.
