POSITION DETAILS
Part-time, with benefits; approximately 35 hours, working 5pm-10pm, seven evenings in the 2 week pay period; pay is based on years of experience and will include a pm shift differential of $2 more per hour.
JOB SUMMARY
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide high quality, compassionate and comprehensive health care to Urgent Care and Emergency Room patients in a timely and professional manner. Will utilize current and recommended urgent and emergency medicine practices. The APP will function under the guidance and/or collaboration of the medical director, consulting and conferring with the ED physician as per role requirements.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTION
Performs initial examinations and records findings. Obtains complete medical history data on patients and documents resulting information on the patient’s medical record. Reviews patient records and dictates articulate and concise information for the physician and the medical record.
Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
Administers injections, immunizations and oral medications; performs minor procedures as approved and delineated by the Medical Staff and Board of Directors.
Writes prescriptions.
Interviews and advises patients regarding health, wellness, and illness/injury prevention.
Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Interprets diagnostic imaging with support from physicians and discusses finding with patients and the healthcare team.
Instructs patient and families regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education.
Proficient in required computer documentation, inquiries, and reports in electronic health record.
Consults and collaborates with other professionals.
Functions as a resource person in health matters.
Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional certification and affiliations.
Maintains excellent personal relations and communication with all members of the clinic and hospital staff.
Performs related work as required.

CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS
The APP will be taken through the medical staff/allied health professional credentialing process as outlined in the Medical Staff By-Laws, Rules and Regulations and be approved by the medical staff and Board of Directors.
Advanced Practice Providers will be evaluated under the Medical Staff APP reappointment process rather than the HR annual review process.
APPs may be required to complete annual educational requirements specific to Tomah Health and their position.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education requirements: Master’s Degree in Nursing AND Current licensure as APNP and RN in State of WI -OR- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program, with current State of WI and National Certification (NCCPA).
DEA Certification.
Current certification in BLS, ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire. ATLS and NRP certification is required within one year of hire.
Membership to appropriate professional organization required.
Previous experience as an APP in emergency, general or family practice medicine is preferred but not required.

Build and maintain the knowledge and established competency levels to perform essential professional NP practice.
Proficient computer literacy with the ability to operate within a Windows environment.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stress, with minimal supervision, and to exercise initiative and judgment in analyzing, organizing, planning, prioritizing, scheduling and coordinating work with others.
Possess a high level of intelligence, integrity, sense of responsibility and ability to comprehend and analyze details.
Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques and practice of scientific principles and research; preparation, administration, and actions of medications; treatments and medical procedures; counseling and teaching techniques; medical equipment as it relates to patient care.
Ability to operate and handle a variety of complex equipment required for patient care.
Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for patients across the life span.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands.
Frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Good hearing is necessary to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound.
Visual acuity is needed to assess color changes, to verify accuracy of written materials.
Computer/keyboard skills required. Must have the ability to operate in a Windows environment.
