The hours of this position are Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
Position Summary:
The Administrative Finance Clerk will provide direct administrative support for the Finance Department and perform all necessary duties of the position.
Supervision Received:
Receives direct supervision from the Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Finance/Chief Fiscal Officer in performing duties in accordance with all best practices and established guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Inputs financial data into the Commonwealth's accounting system "MMARS" in accordance with state finance law and Sheriff's Office finance policies and procedures.
Processes purchase requests, generates purchase orders (PO's), enters purchase and account information in MMARS, and submits PO's to vendors. Reviews Accounts Payable data for accuracy and enters payment requests in MMARS to ensure correct payment by the state.
Monitors PO balances and reviews vendor statements to ensure all information is correct and clear.
Researches and resolves payment discrepancies and other billing issues by communicating with both staff and vendors.
Assists staff with issues when entering their purchase requests.
Reviews claim forms from inmate healthcare providers and researches the discounted rates prior to entering the payment requests.
Files and maintains financial records including POs and the associated invoices, packing slips, statements, and correspondence.
Adheres to all Barnstable County Sheriff's Office finance policies and procedures.
Provides necessary support for the finance department as needed.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
An Associate's degree in from an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in finance, accounting, business management or related area of study is required.
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in finance, accounting, business management or related area of study is preferred but not required.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, accounting, finance is required.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in state or local government or related field is preferred but not required.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
