The General Government Human Resource Office has an opening for an Employee Relations Specialist responsible for conducting investigations for potential employee misconduct, consulting with managers and working with the various unions served by the General Government HR Office. This position is an opportunity to advance your professional career and work with a great team.DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position will be responsible for providing technical assistance, advice and interpretation to managers and/or supervisors on labor relations issues or contract changes and develops policies and procedures to resolve potential or existing manager/employee problems ensuring compliance with existing labor contracts, Civil Service Rules, Personnel Rules and EEO/Affirmative Action practices, Fair Labor Standards Act, Governor's Code of Conduct, Management Directives, Whistleblower Act, and various Human Resource related federal and state laws, policies, procedures, etc.
Specific duties cover the following areas: consultation with managers on employee relations activities, handles disciplinary matters, conducts investigations, responding to standard and accelerated grievances, participates in contract negotiations, conducts training on employee relations matters, analyzes polices, and develops recommendations for improvements, participates in meet and discuss sessions and labor management meetings, reviews and prepares responses to unemployment compensation claims, and a variety of other assignments.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment.Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:A bachelor's degree, including 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
