About Actuary Intern - 2024 Summer Internship

  Healthfirst’s 2024 Summer Trailblazer Internship is a 10-week paid program beginning on June 3, 2024. This is an immersive and interactive learning experience, that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns do impactful work, collaborating with other interns, employees, and business leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions.

  Position Summary: The Actuary team conducts analysis of financial risk to provide management with information that will guide strategic organizational decisions.  The Actuary Intern will work within the Actuary team, as well as communicating with other areas of the Finance Department, to assist the team on fundamental actuarial projects.

  Duties and Responsibilities:

  Work with large and complex data sets, including both financial and healthcare data

  Perform data analysis and financial modeling

  Summarize and communicate results to management

  Produce reports to gov ernment and regulatory entities

  Provide support on core actuarial functions such as forecast, reserving, and pricing

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Students currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program , or an accredited Master’s degree program in Math, Economics, Finance, Business, Statistics, Actuar ial Science  or related programs

  Strong analytical skills

  Strong interpersonal skills

  Exceptional verbal a nd written communication skills

  Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point

  Advanced Excel skills – pivot tables, v-lookup, graphs/visuals

  Basic knowledge of programming preferable (ex. SQL , Python, SAS, VBA), including ability to create queries a nd analyze data sets

  Program Requirements

  Undergraduate students must be a junior or senior at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program. 

  Will not require sponsorship for employment 

  Eligible to work in the U.S. 

  Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited school 

  Knowledge of project management concepts

  Hiring Range*:

  Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $39,208 - $52,000

  All Other Locations (within approved locations): $34,091 - $49,920

  As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.

  In addition to your salary, Healthfirst offers employees a full range of benefits such as, medical, dental and vision coverage, incentive and recognition programs, life insurance, and 401k contributions (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Healthfirst believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package wherever its employees work and live.

  *The hiring range is defined as the lowest and highest salaries that Healthfirst in “good faith” would pay to a new hire, or for a job promotion, or transfer into this role.
