Summary This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operational Support Division, Aviation Division, located in Ft. Worth, Texas. This position's primary purpose is to perform a variety of cost accounting-oriented support for the Aviation Division. Responsibilities As an Accounting Techinician (OA), your typical work assignments may include: Reviewing, preparing and classifying procedural and technical accounting documents/transactions. Integrating several types of software, such as spreadsheet, database, word processing, desktop publishing, etc., to generate specific working documents and forms. Monitoring fund balances and maintains records ensuring funds are managed within allowable constraints. Maintains, controls, and reconciles accounting transactions and records for multiple accounts. Analyzing and examining accounting data and accounts to resolve difficult procedural and technical accounting transactions, complaints, or discrepancies. Responding to a variety of complex customer inquiries, either orally or in writing. Applicants applying for the GS-07 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-06 grade level. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following:1) Examining, maintaining, and reconciling accounting transactions utilizing a financial management database and/or system; 2) Analyzing and recommending solutions regarding accounting activity; and, 3) Providing customer service on various accounting transactions. Applicants applying for the GS-08 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-07 grade level. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Examining, maintaining, and reconciling extensive and diverse accounting transactions; 2) Utilizing a financial management database and/or system; 3) Analyzing and recommending solutions regarding complex accounting activity; and, 4) Providing information on accounting transactions as well as explanation on all accounting procedures. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
