Your New Role...
The Manager Accounting will be responsible for oversight and review of daily, monthly, and quarterly sports advertising and content revenue accounting in accordance with US GAAP and Company policies and practices; performing SOX controls; preparing relevant reports and schedules necessary for management and external reporting obligations; and other duties as listed below. This role will work closely with key stakeholders in FP&A and internal and external audit. This role will specifically support NCAA, NBA and Other Sports revenue accounting processes. In addition, support the NBA Digital Joint Venture accounting processes.
Your Role Accountabilities...
Oversees and manage accounting functions including maintaining the general ledger, journal entry processing, revenue estimates, reconciliation of estimates to actuals, review of actuals to forecast, balance sheet account reconciliations, deferred revenue accounting and audit oversight. Review and approve work product to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies.Leads a team of 3 Senior Accountants. Supervising a team consisting of senior accountants, including setting goals, career development, and ensuring deadlines are met.Participate in the technical accounting issues to provide management with timely information for decision making including occasional involvement in the interpretation of contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment.Participate with external and internal audit walk-throughs and testing completion.Limited involvement in financial system and boundary system integrations and implementation
Qualifications & Experience...
5-7 years of work experience in an accounting role and an experience appropriate understanding of US GAAP and SOX 404 requirementsBS/BA in Accounting from an accredited universityActive CPA strongly preferredBig 4 Public Accounting experience a plusNeeds leadership and supervisory experience 2+ yearsExcellent oral and written communication skills to articulate key information.Self-motivated and able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.Initiative and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.High emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, data analysis, and process innovation.Detail-oriented and high energy.Unceasing curiosity and the courage to challenge the status quo.Self-starter and works with limited direction and take full ownership of areas of responsibility.Team player who embraces change.Unceasing curiosity and the courage to challenge the status quo.Advanced analytical and Microsoft Excel skills.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word & PowerPoint is preferred.
