Here’s what you’d do:
The Accounting Manager will have responsibility for planning, coordinating, and managing key accounting functions, including accounting policy and managing accounting close and analysis and leading teams. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for supervising one senior staff accountant. This role will report directly to the Sr. Director of Finance / Division Controller.
You’d be responsible for:
Being a key player in month-end close, dealing with significant volume of transactions and analyses.
Preparing and/or reviewing and approving journal entries, account reconciliations and other key deliverables in accordance with BrightView’s accounting policy and GAAP.
Performing monthly income statement and balance sheet reviews, interacting with key members of the operations and corporate teams to understand significant transactions, fluctuations, trends, and key drivers impacting results.
Assisting and/or overseeing the assistance provided to the Financial Reporting team in preparation of financial deliverables and ad hoc reporting as needed.
Coordinate and lead communication with internal and external auditors for the planning and execution of quarterly reviews and annual audits
Provide direction, insight, and recommendations for improvement of company policies, processes, controls, and risk management activities.
Provide technical expertise on internal control risks, by providing training to finance and non-finance personnel and educating them on internal control concepts and execution.
Leverage Excel functions such as Xlookups, SumIFs, Excel Macros and pivot tables to manipulate large sets of data for financial reporting and analytical purposes.
Assist branches and other cross-functional teams with accounting related questions and analyses.
Executing all responsibilities in compliance with our internal control framework over financial reporting.
Assists with branch audits and preparation of detailed audit report to senior management.
Performing analysis on current business issues and their potential impact on our accounting, disclosure and filing requirements.
Managing the activities of individual contributors with accountability for goals, objectives, operational policies, and performance.
Facilitating employee training and professional development for all direct reports.
You might be a good fit if you have:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
CPA certification
Minimum of 5 years accounting and financial reporting experience, including public accounting and public company reporting experience
Flexible/team player; comfortable changing directions mid-stream; understands the importance of achieving team objectives.
Proven experience working in a senior accounting role preferably within a large public company or public accounting firm.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and SOX compliance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High level of proficiency in Excel to perform spreadsheet and financial analysis
JD Edwards experience a plus
