This role is responsible for delivery across WBD of all statutory, audit, outsourced accounting and compliance matters for Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, India, China and Hong Kong. The role oversees a team of 2 as well as outsourced accounting providers across Asia.
This role will directly support Singapore, Thailand, India, China and Hong Kong. One team member oversees Philippines and the other member is responsible for Taiwan/ Malaysia.
General Accounting
Period close deliverables and reportingClose calendar/Monthly P&L review and analysis review and provision of variance analysis for month-end resultsTimely completion of month-end deliverables relating to divisional responsibilitiesCoordination of all Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, India, China and Hong Kong based treasury related functionsLiaise with US-based treasury team and provision of information in response to requestsRegular review and management of cash balances and accounts/facilities. This includes responsibility for IC reconciliations and funds settlementMaintain effective internal control environment ensuring controls are compliant with various territory requirements and WBD SOX policyResponsible and oversee accuracy of balance sheet reporting activity including review of balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly balance sheet footnote disclosures; conduct periodic balance sheet review updates with Finance partnersPerform ad hoc analysis for APAC Studio leadership and APAC CFO/Finance teams as well as work with different departments and handle queries within the organizationHandling System report issues in coordination with technical teamAssisting in improving existing internal controls and procedures to be in line with Corporate Accounting PoliciesAccurately handling reporting requests/questions received from various stakeholdersCoordinate with other team members to reconcile identified variance and adjustments to be madeAssist in various global/ department initiatives, such as system migration and Account Reconciliation Harmonization
Statutory Reporting
Lead Statutory reporting across Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, India, China and Hong KongSupporting E&Y on preparation and drafting of statutory accounts for all local reporting entitiesCoordinator and principal point of contact for external auditorsDevelop and execute strategy on an annual basis to deliver all statutory requirements by various country timelines, utilizing a combination of internal and outsourced accounting resourcesProactively manage internal audits and external filing process through on-going engagement and communication with multiple company officeholders, including the region CFO, heads of legal, general managers, etc.Manage the annual statutory Financial Statement audits with PwC for various WBD legal entities, ensuring compliance with local GAAPCoordinate between auditors (PwC), Controllership and local outsourced accounting firms to maintain a calendar of deliverables and deadlines for WBD subsidiaries' local statutory reporting requirementsReview local intercompany invoices and service fee allocations for Global teamsEnsure all reporting is accurate and timely and in line with company policies, best practices, and US/local GAAP
Areas of Accountability
SME for Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, India, China and Hong Kong statutory reporting and complianceRegular interaction with offshore accounting groups in a matrixed organization
Essential:
Fully qualified Accountant - CPA/MBAStrong technical experience including experience in month-end management accounting for revenue and costUS GAAP reporting and SOX experienceExperience of multi-site and multi-currency reportingMinimum 5-10 years of experience in accountingHigh-level interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalFluent in English and Mandarin
Desirable:
Experience in leading teams through significant periods of change as well as steady stateExperience in integrated finance applications/information systems (e.g. SAP, Peoplesoft, Oracle)Experience with direct and indirect tax complianceExperience working with outsourced financial functions
