Will attend courses to become a CarFit Technician and courses to become a CarFit Coordinator within the first 12 months of employment.Review, interpret, and report on research, education, and/or data to create targeted 55+ driver safety outreach.Using presentations, provide education and/or technical assistan e to Georgias first responders, medical providers, citizens, allied organizations, and program partners.Communicate and collaborate with state, federal, and community organizations to promote optimal implementation of 55+ Driver Safety Program goals.Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in driver safety and healthy aging by researching (and reporting on) technical reports, updates, books, journals, and other literature and attending related seminars and conferences. Applies pertinent new knowledge to recommend program, policy, and best practices.Compile a monthly report on relevant, new research or news items related to drivers 55+.Co-facilitate and lead meetings. Attend, and report on, all meetings of the 55+ Driver Safety Program Task Team.Support annual events such as Road Design for Aging Drivers Workshop, Aging Driver Symposium, and other events hosted by partners.Maintain the information posted on the 55+ Driver Safety Program website and related websites.Assist with other activities as needed.Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision.Completes tasks and assignments associated with administrative support functions (ie, data collection, records management, inventory, purchasing, mailings, or similar function).Responsible to assist with other activities as needed.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree
PreferredQualificationsPreference will be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the entry qualifications possess 3 or more of the following:
Valid drivers license and a MVR with no violations in three years.Demonstrated experience in collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations.Experience teaching or programmatic interaction with adults 55 years of age and older.Trained as a CarFit technician or coordinator, or other related training such as AAA driver improvement, AARP driver safety volunteer, or driver education instructorExperience with field training or non-traditional group training (non-classroom).Two years of knowledge and/or experience with needs in older driver safety, injury prevention, and/or healthy aging.Experience or training in motor vehicle handling (Smith System or other).Two years of knowledge and/or experience with driver safety, driver education, or related road or highway safety issues.Training in defensive driving and safety practices and procedures.Knowledge and experience in public health and injury prevention programs for occupant safetyExperience in program evaluation, program development, and/or communications/social media.Ability to create and conduct surveys and evaluation/needs assessment activities.Ability to present information and materials objectively and clearly to a wide variety of audience.Certified Health Education Specialist
