Position Description
Job Summary
The Supervisory position is responsible for the daily operation for a high volume and fast paced distribution center, including coaching of hourly associates and leads to achieve operational service goals in receiving, inventory, picking, and shipping of abrasive products. Third shift plays a critical role in getting product shipped and delivered to or customers.
Required Qualifications
Supervise a shift of up to 30-40 associates within a 400,000+ square foot distribution center
Identify inefficiencies in processes and implement solutions to drive productivity improvements using lean concepts
Train associates on equipment utilization, work processes and warehouse management system (WMS)
Work with associates to ensure shipping and customer service targets are met daily
Coordinate, plan and lead all distribution activities in order to meet established on-time and quality requirements (KPIs)
Train, coach and develop Leads and Associates on job duties for maximum performance and professional growth
Coach and mentor Leads and Associates performance expectations
Participate in the decision-making process for the following: interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, and terminating Associates
Ensure compliance for Safety, SG Policies, rules, and procedures including housekeeping, 5S, safety meetings/training, incident reporting and investigations
Review, reconcile and approve Time & Attendance of Hourly Associates
Proactively address and resolve issues relative to operations and employee engagement.
Ethical Decision Making & ability to comply with Company Policy & Procedure
Passion for process improvement & team collaboration
Additional Description
Ability to manage 3rd shift
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred with three to five years’ distribution supervisory experience or Associate degree with minimum six years’ distribution supervisory experience or HSD/ GED with minimum ten years’ distribution supervisory experience
Ability to competently use computer –Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products and warehouse management systems preferred
World Class Manufacturing/Supply Chain and/or Lean Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, decisive decision making experience preferred
Develop and use collaborative relationships to accomplish work goals; develop individual relationships by listening, sharing ideas and appreciating others’ efforts (Employee Engagement)
Ability to function in a high volume, high SKU, quick turnaround industrial product distribution center environment, while focusing on the completion of operational goals (performance metric goals/ KPI’s)
Must be able to plan, organize and manage multiple projects and set priorities
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Lead by example while working with a diverse workforce
Appear in DC Succession Plan in 1-2 years for future leadership opportunities
Bilingual is a plus
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. consistently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally, stand or walk for extended periods of time
Ability to work at heights
Ability to work without air conditioning
Ability to operate mechanical equipment or willingness to learn
Ability to work flexible schedule to include nights and weekends if business requires'
Bilingual is a plus
