As the Design Engineering Manager of Theme Feasibility at Ford Global Design, you will lead a team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure A Surface feasibility while maintaining the Design Studio's dynamic direction. This role involves guiding program, functional, and internal studio teams through Ford's Design Feasibility Progression from initial concept feasibility to final tool-able A Surface approval.
Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering theme feasibility and production-launch appearance quality, ultimately turning design vision into reality with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to achieving the art of the possible.
Lead the development of Class A surface, integrating technical, feasibility, manufacturing, and program requirements to support theme models from concept to final production release.
Manage the Design Feasibility Process from early concepts to production surfaces, balancing program, functional, manufacturing, and attribute trade-offs.
Lead surface development reviews, mediating incompatibilities and driving issue resolution.
Compile, publish, and manage closure of surface and feasibility critique sheets.
Collaborate to identify win/win solutions that align with Design Vision, program direction, and engineering requirements.
Create surface proposals to align the team around the Design Vision and stakeholder requirements.
Develop Checklists, Hardpoints Plan, and balance function and attribute trade-offs for design feasibility.
Lead design feasibility engineering activity, integrating upper body functional requirements to support the design development process.
Develop CAD-based zone layouts for studio design feasibility, integrating function feasibility and design requirements.
Maintain feasibility status of Design properties and ensure conformance to hardpoints and feasibility constraints.
Provide functional and appearance focus for creative solutions to engineering and vehicle package issues.
Provide functional guidance and appropriate feasibility studies of Studio & program alternatives.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
5+ yrs. of automotive surface feasibility experience
2+ yrs. experience utilizing CAD (Catia, ICEMSURF, or Alias) and Data Management (TCe)
