The Speech LanguagePathologist Assistant assists the Speech Language Pathologist in providing speech and language services. TheSpeech Language Pathologist Assistant will have clinical, educational, documentation, and treatment related activities while working within the scope of responsibilities/ plan of care assigned by the Speech Language Pathologist and/or physician.
Responsibilities:
Provides components of a speech and language program as specified in thetreatment plan developed by a supervising SLP in accordancewith the physician’s plan of care according to state regulation
Provides timelyand accurate documentation of student, client and patient performance and reports this information to the supervising SLP
Programs and provides instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices
Maintainscommunication with thecompany and other personnel caring for theclient, patient, student to assure that their efforts effectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan of carewithin the scope of practice
Other Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) duties as assigned
Requirements:
Must be a graduate of an SLPA program with an associate’s degree, or have a bachelor’s degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program
Successful completion of a minimum of 100 hours of supervised field work experience or its clinical experience equivalent
Current certification or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in the State of Practice
One (1) year of prior professional Speech-LanguagePathology Assistant experience preferred; home care experience preferred
Must possess and maintain current CPR certification in accordance with State regulation(s)
Current record of PPD or chest X-ray results, if applicable
