DLA Piper’s Intellectual Property & Technology group is seeking an exceptional 1L student to join the 2024 summer program in Austin, Boston, Philadelphia, Palo Alto and Seattle. We are seeking candidates with an entrepreneurial mindset, who are motivated to build their legal skills and gain insight into client needs. We value innovators and creative thinkers. As a summer associate in our Patent Prosecution group, you will receive a tailored experience along with pro bono opportunities. Our in-depth training focuses on your development and helps prepare you for the future. You will be assigned a team who will provide support and offer feedback, and you will be able to build your network through social events. Our 10-week program provides insight to what life is like as a junior associate at DLA Piper.
Candidates will be expected to:
· Apply sustained and intense concentration for extended periods of time
· Solve problems through legal analysis and strategic advice
· Research and draft written communications
· Craft/critique/comment on arguments
· Work under pressure to meet deadlines and perform to the satisfaction of clients and colleagues
· Provide timely, accurate, and well-reasoned work product
· Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with partners, lawyers, clients, staff, and third parties
· Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner, meeting all deadlines and expectations
Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated interest in intellectual property and a background or education in science.
