Job Summary:
The ideal candidates will be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and energetic intern level programmers able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with the Raytheon Technologies team. Software Interns work on a variety satellite ground system software and related software projects. Some previous activities in these positions have involved developing software algorithms, modeling complex systems, simulating systems to understand mission performance, performing system trade studies, improving software efficiency, and developing software products as part of an Agile software development team.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Support of the software team with the requirements, design, coding, build process, data analysis, and tools maintenance in their specific program area on a variety of software development environments and platforms.
Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to produce deliverable products.
Participate in internal review of software components and systems.
Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
Work on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations.
Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.
This position can be a Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate Technical based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:
(Junior Technical or Administrative Intern)- must have completed 60 credit hours of college by start of internship.
(Senior Technical or Administrative Intern)- must have completed 90 credit hours of college by start of internship
(Post-Graduate Technical or Administrative Intern)- must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a Junior by the start of Summer 2024 in Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
Proficiency in Java and/or C++ computer programming language on a Unix/Linux platform
Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to produce deliverable products
This position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to U.S Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements (ex. Positions on government customer sites)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Python, Bash, or Perl
Experience using software development tools like Eclipse, Jira, Junit, and Git
Knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis, Design, and Programming
Understanding of Software Engineering processes and best practices.
Experience with Agile development
Experience working with applications in the AWS Cloud
Experience with microservices using Docker and Kubernetes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Interest in satellite ground system software and related technologies such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, and flight dynamics models.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 52,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
