  Job Description

  Work Arrangement:

  Hybrid: The position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility, or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

  The EV Propulsion and Thermal Management Software and Controls Development Co-Op student will be given the opportunity to engage in the development of thermal systems for EV vehicles in the area of Electrification Thermal controls and diagnostic design. These areas include MATLAB/Simulink/C Code based algorithm development, testing, virtual and vehicle calibration! You will work with a diverse team of engineers to support the development of new systems as well as be an agile developer on a scrum team.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Support and development of Thermal EV control and diagnostic algorithms

  Conduct testing of prototype and production software (simulation, bench, and in-vehicle)

  Support supplier component design and development activities

  Investigate and support continuous improvement activities associated with production programs

  Participate in the day-to-day engineering activities in order to gain an understanding of the vehicle development process

  Participate in an Agile SAFe scrum team

  Additional Job Description

  Required Qualifications:

  Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree (3rd and 4th year students but will consider qualified 2nd year students with EcoCAR, or SAE project experience) or Master's degree in one of the following areas: Software Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics

  Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Canada, and for 8 or 12-month term (2-3 consecutive semesters) starting May 2024

  Basic electrical and control systems knowledge

  Experience developing software (Embedded C and/or Simulink)

  Curiosity about vehicle controls and EV technology

  What will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  Ability to travel to the US (Recommended)

  Have a valid Full Class G Ontario Driver’s License, or equivalent out-of-province license
