Summary
Internship Program Overview
This analyst internship opportunity is available to master\'s- ordoctoral-level students immediately post-graduation or during the lastsemester prior to graduation. The 3-6-month internship is paid, and eachintern will acquire competencies in at least one of the following coreareas:
Learn about national healthcare quality reporting including howquality measures are created, tested, evaluated, and implementedinto quality reporting programs.{=html}<>- Assist with analytic tasks such as data validation, developing and implementing analytic plans, cross referencing data, and producing operational reports.
{=html}<>- Obtain knowledge of a wide range of data types including (but not limited to) - survey - medical claims and encounters - prescription drug claims - eligibility/beneficiary - demographic - clinical - electronic health record - registry - vital statistics - operational
{=html}<>- Gain experience using statistical programming packages (SAS, Python) and working with CMS databases.
Essential Competencies, Duties and Responsibilities
Interns will be oriented to the core competencies. Once assigned to anHSAG project, each intern will:
Be assigned an HSAG mentor to serve as a day-to-day point ofcontact.Meet with the project team and begin participating in all projectteam meetings.Make presentations to project team and communicate project resultsto staff.Perform assignments and prepare work products that contribute to theoverall project.Examples of assignments include but are not limited to the following:
Assist with production of data submission reports for CMS qualityreporting programs.Review and update analytic plans based on requirements specific tothe quality reporting program.Perform ad-hoc analyses as required and support drafting of results,reports, and briefing papers.Represent HSAG in a professional manner, at all times.Compensation: \$20.00/\$25.00/hour
Job Requirements:
Education and/or Experience
A recent graduate or graduate student pursing a master\'s or doctoraldegree in a healthcare-related discipline such as public health,health informatics, health sciences, social science, business,economics, math, or statistics.
Other Qualifications
Familiarity with SAS software for statistical programming
If not experienced in SAS, must be willing to learn SAS during theinternship to produce reports, conduct and interpret primaryanalyses, and/or conduct secondary and exploratory analyses
The majority of HSAG\'s analyt c work is performed using SAS.
Proficient in identification, critical review, and synthesis ofscientific and policy-related healthcare literature.
Conceptualize and draft reports supported by tables, charts, andtext.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
