High School Math Teacher - Freire Wilmington
Freire Schools is seeking a highly motivated and qualified MathTeacher to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year! Our Wilmington campus serves students ranging from 8th to 12th grade. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of their math content area, a passion for teaching, and a strong commitment to student achievement.
Curriculum
Teachers will use a combination of Illustrative Math to foster critical thinking and academic growth. We believe that the most equitable thing we can do for our students is to provide them with high-quality standards-aligned materials. We also know that our teachers know their students best, and we trust our teachers to be able to make instructional decisions about how to implement the materials in order to ensure that all kids are able to learn at a deep level. Our understanding of what that looks like is constantly evolving, but we are committed to doing so in all content areas.
Job Responsibilities
Use a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to engage and motivate students in the learning process, and to promote critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.Assess and monitor student progress through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations, and provide timely feedback and support to enhance their learning and address their academic needs.Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administrators to ensure the overall success of the school and its students.Participate in professional development. Our Freire teachers engage in monthly staff-wide professional development and regular coaching and mentor support.Create a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment that fosters students' academic and personal growth, and promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Qualifications:
At least 2 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations is strongly preferred.Valid state teaching certification or the ability and willingness to obtain certification.Excellent communication and relational skills to interact effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators, and to promote a culture of respect, responsibility, excellence, collaboration, and social justice.Ability to work well individually and as part of a team.Commitment to Freire's mission, vision, and values.
