Functional Description:
Within the Global Risk & Compliance organization, the Enterprise Data Risk Management is the independent risk management function covering risk of financial loss, reputational damage, or regulatory or legal action resulting from inadequate data governance and/or data management practices adversely impacting the accuracy, timeliness, comprehensiveness, or usability of data within or throughout its lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and overseeing comprehensive data risk management strategies to safeguard our organization's data assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Responsibilities:
Develop and drive the strategic vision for Data Risk Management, aligning with the company's overall data risk management practices on data usability, data protection, data compliance, and third-party data.
Establish and maintain the Data Risk appetite for the enterprise including definition, scope, Risk Appetite Statement, and corresponding metrics with risk limits, escalations, and oversee resolution of escalations.
Establish and enforce comprehensive Enterprise Data Risk Management policies and procedures in compliance with industry regulations and global standards.
Work closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure adherence to financial industry-specific data protection requirements.
Oversee the development and maintenance of a robust data governance framework, ensuring the highest standards of data quality, integrity, availability, and confidentiality, and compliance.
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential data risks, providing strategic recommendations for risk mitigation.
Partners with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Head of Infrastructure, Head of Information Security, Enterprise Data Governance, various BU presidents to implement effective data risk mitigation strategies.
Design and oversee data risk management training programs for employees at all levels, fostering a culture of data security awareness and responsibility.
Lead with external perspectives on industry trends and emerging threats, adjusting training programs accordingly.
Assess and manage data-related risks associated with third-party vendors, ensuring robust due diligence and compliance with financial industry regulations.
Reports directly to the Head of Data Management & Governance.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in data risk management or a related field within the financial services industry.
Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing data risk management strategies in a Fortune 500 or similarly complex organization.
Experienced people leader, capable of effectively managing teams of 26-40 individuals.
Expert knowledge of financial industry regulations and data protection requirements.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at the executive level.
Advanced degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Risk Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
