The Finance Technology group at American Express has been actively going through technology transformation driven by opportunities to modernize platforms, streamline data management and analytics, and use Cloud computing. Role Description and Key Responsibilities:
This Vice President provides strategic leadership and product/solution engineering across Regulatory reporting. Regulatory reporting delivers sophisticated company financial and risk reporting to Regulators across the world. The role is global and will leads teams based in India and the U.S (United States). The role supports the finance technology products used across Regulatory reporting including US (United States) and International Regulatory Reporting, advanced analytics, Regulatory calculation engines & platforms and data domains.
In this role, you will need to:
Establish Finance technology platform strategy and roadmaps
Drive the right architectural decisions for owned and integrated platforms
Build our next-generation Regulatory calculation engines and data domains
Modernize applications using open-source, and Amex standard technology frameworks that use the latest technologies and cloud computing.
Adopt cloud computing on Google Cloud platform via the Amex “Lumi” Big-data environment and support the migration of existing apps and data.
Maintain strong focus on platform health needs, prioritizing technology debt removal, cybersecurity, and resilience of platforms
Manage global engineering teams that use modern software engineering practices and Agile development methodologies.
Drive a relentless pursuit of financial and operational excellence
Develop and maintain strong business partner relationships
We work with the latest modern technologies:
Our tech stack uses Java, SQL, and Python extensively, and uses Apache Flink, Spark, and Airflow; experience with languages such as Kotlin, Mvel, & Go is a bonus
We deploy/manage our software using container technology and Kubernetes
Our data management and analytics relies on technologies like Apache Flink & Airflow, BI (Business Intelligence) Tools like Microstrategy, Power BI, Tableau, Essbase, Oracle analytics, Informatica,
Our database technology is based on Singlestore, Yellowbrick, Oracle, and Denodo
Our data governance tooling includes Manta and Collibra.
We are moving all our data management, applications, and analytics to Google Cloud. When we do this, we will use services like BigQuery, Dataflow / Dataproc, and more.
Minimum Qualifications:
10 years of large-scale technology engineering and team management in a complex environment
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related field needed; advanced degree preferred
Software engineering experience with ability to architect and engineer solutions using modern tech stacks, data engineering techniques, and databases
Knowledge of data architecture patterns and data management best practices.
Engagement with or contribution to open-source frameworks, utilities or languages.
Proficiency in cross-platform integration and security between multi-SaaS cloud and internal heterogeneous environments
