Your Opportunity
Our Transportation group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services for all phases of bridge, rail, roadway, and transit projects. Our Edmonton, Alberta office is currently seeking one Transportation Engineer who will provide technical design services for our Roadway team. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can work in a team environment, are able to work independently when needed, and wants to be involved in exciting local, regional, national, and international projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform geometric design and 3D modeling on a variety of urban and rural roadway and transit projects
Lead the development of design plans and assist with preparation of technical specifications and quantity estimates as required
Prepare engineering reports and technical studies
Coordinate with other disciplines including structural, geotechnical, stormwater, streetlighting, landscaping and other specialty areas to ensure interdisciplinary design integration
Provide input and guidance to designers and project CAD leads
Coordinate and manage the project team, finances, deliverables and client interactions
Ensure applicable standards, quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed during the design process
Work to meet project timelines and budgets
Additional duties may include assisting the Leadership team with project pursuits and proposal preparation
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment and independently when required
Understanding and awareness of design standards including City of Calgary, City of Edmonton, TAC, Alberta Transportation, AASHTO, etc.
Strong background in civil engineering design software (Autodesk with Bentley an asset)
Knowledge of modelling software such as Infraworks, OpenRoads and/or Civil3D is considered an asset
Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Proficiency with MS Project would be considered an asset
Knowledge of traffic modeling software such as Synchro or VISSIM considered an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy
Team player with a positive attitude
Education and Experience
4-Year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 4 years of industry experience
Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta or ability to obtain within the next 6 months
Position will primarily work in an office setting but may require some field work. Depending on specific project needs, Stantec also offers a hybrid work from office and/or home program.
