WHAT YOU'LL DO
Corporate Finance & Strategy (CFS) is a functional practice area within BCG that is at the core of BCG's heritage and current work across all industries. Within CFS, BCG runs a business called "Strategy", which develops and markets our offerings on multiple highly strategic and future-oriented topics: corporate & portfolio strategy, business strategy, strategic planning, growth, innovation, digital & data strategy, and what we call "strategic foresight", which is about competitive advantage specifically under large uncertainty about the future.
We are seeking a strong candidate to work especially closely with the Growth & Innovation (G&I) leadership team, the broader G&I expert team, and the CFS operations team, as a Topic Senior Manager for G&I. A special focus will be on further building the topics of "Growth" and "Strategic Foresight". We believe this is a rewarding role with broad exposure and strong development opportunities in a dynamic working environment.
As a Topic Senior Manager, you will drive various product management and business building activities regarding the offerings and tools in the business jointly with the leadership team. They include in particular:
Strategy, roadmap, backlog: Setting the product strategy, roadmap, and backlog based on the needs and pain points of our clients and client teams as well as differentiation from our competitors.
Governance and stakeholder management: Setting and orchestrating an effective topic governance, which includes the preparation and facilitation of regular team meetings and calls as well as broader stakeholder engagement (e.g., CFS leadership, counterparts in other BCG practice areas, Knowledge Team...).
Product development: Contributing to product development driven by topic experts and project teams and ensuring alignment and consistency between different content initiatives (past & present).
Program management and controlling: Tracking progress against various KPIs and providing insights on challenges and opportunities. Tracking budgets and interfacing with Finance.
Marketing and communication: Working with the marketing team in developing a product narrative and communication plan as well as providing input to the execution of the marketing plan. Supporting the preparation of marketing events, both BCG-internal and client events. Supporting the process for external publications.
Team building: Driving BCG-internal affiliation to the business. Supporting training and enablement of our teams. In addition, a component of the role will include being a "Chief Happiness Officer" of our team, to drive and maintain a positive team culture.
Go-to-market (GTM) by sector: Working with different industry sector practices in BCG to align priorities, need for customized, sector-specific content, and GTM plans (incl. specific campaigns / priority clients)
Sales and execution support: On occasion supporting proposals or supporting client teams through content and stakeholder navigation
As part of the Topic Senior Manager community at BCG, you will work closely with your topic teams, but also with your topic management colleagues in CFS and beyond to test, refine, and exchange best practices across the community.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
Successful candidates will feel comfortable operating in a "start-up mode" within BCG, i.e. under ambiguity and evolving priorities. They can manage a complex set of both senior and peer stakeholders, and they have strong project management skills, where they are able to manage the details while always keeping the "big picture" in mind. Eagerness to lean in and flexibly support the broader operations and expert teams is also a prerequisite.
In particular, successful candidates will have the following abilities:
Orchestrating a complex and evolving agenda, aligning senior leadership, and driving the execution in a distributed organization.
Managing, tracking, and supporting a broad range of BCG-internal projects often requiring consulting skills such as slide writing, presentation, and some analytics.
Collaborating, facilitating, and communicating effectively with teams and individuals of various seniorities, geographies and backgrounds.
Ability and motivation to continuously learn the latest content and BCG offerings across all the topics of Growth & Innovation, but also beyond, in CFS and broader BCG.
