This position has a clinical and research focus in GI oncology which closely aligns with research and education missions of the Department and Division. This individual will partner closely with the Cancer Care Service Line locally, state-wide, and regionally. The Division is seeking an individual with a strong interest in hematology/oncology research, mentoring and training who can thrive in the team-based environment of the University of Minnesota Medical School. The ideal candidate will have clinical expertise in solid tumor oncology with experience in basic and/or translational research with an established record of independently obtained research funding. The Section of Medical Oncology has active laboratory and clinical research programs related to common solid tumor malignancies. Our faculty specialize in basic science and clinical research in breast, lung, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract, and other solid tumors. Our faculty are heavily involved in collaborative research focused on the causes, prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer and applying that knowledge to improve the quality of life for patients and survivors. Key initiatives of our research are to identify personalized treatment regimens tailored to a patient's specific cancer and to develop strategies to help prevent the long-term complications of treatments in our cancer survivors, particularly in the areas of cardiovascular health. Significant opportunities exist for development and mentoring of students, residents, fellows and advanced practice providers in research and education. A critical mass of diverse hematology, oncology, and senior faculty provide clinical trial leadership. Qualifications Required Qualifications M.D., MD/PhD, D.O. or equivalent whom is Board Eligible or Certified in Hematology * Demonstrated excellence in patient care * Demonstrated enthusiasm for medical education, mentoring and strong teaching skills * Demonstrated excellence in Academic and Clinical Leadership * Tenure, tenure-equivalent or tenure-eligible per institutional criteria * Must have or be able to attain a medical license in the state of MN * Must be able to pass credentialing at all applicable sites Regional, National or International recognition for research * History of successful national research funding Applicants must have the ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.
