Job Summary:
This temporary position is a 12-week project starting on or near early March and lasting through the end of May. This assignment may end earlier or later depending on the timeline and essential duties of the project. This position pays approximately $18.00 per hour; applicable Federal, State and Local taxes apply.
This position is responsible for using the individual’s creative design skills to contribute to the layout of religious magazines and marketing materials for religious publishing products.
Graphic Design/Ad Layout Designer will be responsible for Pre-flighting both internal and outside ads in preparation for insertion into OSV publications and the actual insertion of all electronic ads into those publications.
The Ad Layout duties would provide layout and ad placement for each issue. Check incoming ads and works directly with editors and advertising staff.
Essential Job Functions (60%): Ad Layout
Work with periodical editors and Advertising Traffic Coordinator to produce ad layouts.
Functions involve use of Adobe software, along with placing and meeting each publication’s advertising space requirements.
Check incoming materials from customers for ad placement and verify that all elements of these ads comply with OSV production standards and ensure that these ads will reproduce as OSV standards.
Communicate with advertising account reps on customer Ad designs.

Requirements:
Experience:
2-3 years of work experience in magazine and/or newspaper layout, color correction as well as four color process preparationEducation:
Associate degree in Graphic design or related field of study
Minimum of three (2-3) years of work related experience
Skills and Abilities:
A complete and thorough proficiency with Adobe PhotoShop (current version), Adobe InDesign (current version), Adobe Acrobat (current version)
A thorough understanding of four-color prepress and magazine/newspaper layout principles and their application in a Macintosh OS environment
The ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with teams of editors, designers and marketing staff
Working Environment:
Staff members have the freedom of judgment in the area of design technique, but most decisions are made within the framework of our established styles and Catholic oriented aesthetic. More independent decisions are needed in regard to what needs to be done when to make a particular deadline.
Incumbent will use institutional preferences and styles of our content development teams and some custom publishing software and workflows.
Incumbent will work with the Periodical editors, marketing staff and production staff on a daily basis
Some pre-release content not for public consumption such as new products and redesigned publications could be mishandled. Externally our reputation or competitive position could be compromised.
Incumbent will work with company computer
90% or more of incumbent’s time will be spent on the computer
Incumbent can work at the Huntington office or work remotely.
