The applicant will conduct research in natural language processing, specifically, he or she will conduct literature search, propose and implement new algorithms and build related systems for the research project. Finally, he or she will assist in writing academic papers related to the project together with other PhD students. The supervisor will meet with the Staff Associate II twice a week.
This person's key responsibilities are:
- Write code to implement a dialog system that completes tasks.
- Research on machine learning methods to improve the dialog system responses' coherence
- Test the dialog system with a designed user group.
- Assist writing research publication
Specific duties of the position in order of their importance and percentage of time devoted to each:
Functional Knowledge: Able to implement learning methods, and possess a functional knowledge of the software (30%)
b. Problem Solving Skills: Experience in solving problems related to natural language processing. (20%)
c. Decision Making/Autonomy: Able to make decisions about NLP within the scope of the project (25%)
d. Technical Expertise: Able to implement algorithms and build related systems for the research project (20%)
e. Communication Skills: Competent in writing academic reports related to the project (5%)

Minimum Education Requirement: Undergrad or Masters degree in Computer Science related majors. Work experience CANNOT substitute for the educational requirements
Specific skills/knowledge Required: Previous experience in NLP research & Proficient in python
