Collins Aerospace is looking for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer, you will develop system models, designs, and validate these multiple domain Nuclear Command and Control (NC3) mission systems solutions used on the aircraft and ground stations being developed for our military customers. This opportunity includes supporting one or both of the following platforms: E-4 and E-6.Primary responsibility will be to focus on customer needs and requirements in order to design, develop, document and test both hardware and software systems, ranging from black box to the complex end-to-end platform systems.Projects span the entire development lifecycle, including pursuit and order capture, system design, requirements definition, requirement allocation, requirement traceability, use case development for software/hardware, systems integration, verification testing and qualification.You will work closely with fellow systems engineers, Technical Project Engineers (PEs), Product Line / Program Management, software, hardware, electrical and support staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of the product lifecycle. You will support defining the future of armed forces NC3 defense systems. This position is located in Richardson, TX.This is an ONSITE position in Richardson, TX. This position may also be eligible for relocation.Primary Responsibilities:
Lead technical proposal preparation and serve as a subject matter expert in non-advocate, internal and customer reviewsEnsures the development and management of technical risks and develops and executes mitigation plansRecommends investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization's projects.Apply SysML concepts for System Modeling across a full engineering lifecycle.Serve as design authority for our ISSE NC3 systems.Lead development and communication of roadmaps for ISSE projects, associated technologies, and product linesLead and advise engineering managers, program managers, business development managers, product line managers, and component architectsEstablish trusted and influential relationships with customers and suppliersServe as the primary technology and systems engineering focal point for leadership and the customer for ISSE mission equipment packages/solutionsCoordinate across strategic business units for alignment of portfolio roadmapsMonitoring cost and schedule and reporting project status to program management and engineering leadership. Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experienceMust be a U.S. CitizenMust have an US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of end-to-end systems architecture governance and design principles.Experience with NC3 system architecture development, and systems, software, and hardware engineering.Expert in systems engineering and open systems architecturesOperations concept developmentSystem and product designModel & Requirements managementTechnical risk management, interface definition and controlExperience with aircraft level system integrationDevelopment of integration and test plans, test cases and proceduresExecuting product and system level tests to include experience with automation test tools or scriptingExperience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO, Rhapsody, Enterprise ArchitectExperience in technical proposal writing - Make/Buy Decision-making and trade study experienceDemonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program teamAbility to travel domestically (up to 10% of time)Operational experience with embedded (low-level) software development, application software development, and/or hardware developmentExperience with bidding utilizing SEER toolsExperience with regulatory and certification requirements: TSO, DO-160, DO254, DO178B/C, and ARP4754Experience working in an Agile development environment, being part of a highly integrated team working closely with SW, Integration and Verification teamsExperience and exposure to other related disciplines such as human factors, system safety, reliability & maintainability, and cybersecurity.Experience with virtualization technologiesKnowledge of MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 661 standard and bus protocolsExperience with TCP/IP network applications developmentSoftware or Systems experience with Point Cloud SystemsExperience with Test Automation (Python)#reempowerprogram This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program.
