  Position Summary

  The Sr. Principal Engineer is accountable for building and executing the Pharmacy IT technology strategy for the pharmacist AI (Artificial intelligence) value stream. This technical leader will join forces with business and product leaders to architect, design, build, and deliver a roadmap which drives our business and technology strategy and solution forward for pharmacist AI . This position will be directly developing and landing ambient Pharmacy AI Initiatives. This position will compile research and technologies across the organization into one cohesive technical roadmap to prove out ambient products that address our colleague and customer challenges. This position will have an opportunity to provide strategic leadership for the software development of our application products and services that leverage advance technologies.

  Looking for a Sr. Principal Engineer who has experience mentoring/guiding team members, helping drive development decisions, and assisting with architecture design decisions. This leader will demonstrate executive level qualities, lead the conversation, have an eye for great design, Hands-on coding as required and a knack for pushing projects from conception to end users. This leader will partner with Value Architects, Product and Engineer teams in order to articulate the true total value of each technical solution and the overall business outcome.

  This Position will be responsible for

  Responsibilities:Lead technology vision and development for Product Platforms organization Drive strategy around solutions, solve complex problems, and successfully execute across the Cloud, end-to-end solution, AIML and moreDeep technical experts and thought leaders that help accelerate adoption of the very best engineering practices, while maintaining knowledge on industry innovations, trends, and practicesLeverage business and domain acumen to interpret and translate business requirements to architecture/technology plansVisionaries, collaborating on CVS's toughest issues, to deliver on business needs that directly impact the lives of our customersRole models and mentors, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product communityEvangelists, both internally and externally, helping to elevate the Engineering community and establish themselves as a go-to resource on given technologies and technology-enabled capabilitiesContribute to developing key framework and components of solutions and provide technical excellenceIdentifies the balance between the immediate and long-term impact of technical direction and guides the organization to execution in this balanceEffectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise, at all levels of the organizationOperate as a trusted advisor for a specific technology, platform or capability domain, helping to shape use cases and implementation in an unified mannerDesign and implement benchmarks to measure the performance of software systems and make recommendations on technology selectionLead the way in creating next-generation talent for Tech, mentoring internal talent and actively recruiting external talent to bolster CVS's Tech talentRequired Qualifications12+ years of software engineering or software development experience5+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services (Google Cloud Platform, Azure)5+ years of experience in resiliency and observability engineering best practices2+ years of experience in Domain Driven Design and Event Driven Architecture5+ years of experience in design patterns3+ years of experience with enterprise level data governance2+ years experience with AI/generative AI solutions and technologiesDeep hands-on technical expertise in backend technologies like J2EE, nodejs: large scale full stack development, building complex distributed systems, designing massive global networks. 30% hand-on coding required.Preferred QualificationsMasters' Degree PreferredContribution to open sourceImplemented 1+ PatentsEducationBachelor's Degree in computer science or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.Pay Range

  The typical pay range for this role is:

  $170,000.00 - $325,000.00

  This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
