Position Summary
As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide strategic legal counsel to the most senior internal business partners with respect to pharmacy provider agreements, pharmacy services agreements, regulatory compliance, and health-care related regulations and laws. You will proactively advise business partners on a wide variety of matters and work collaboratively with other attorneys and partners on matters related to PBM and health plan agreements and legal and regulatory compliance.
You will identify business and legal risks and provide solutions which balance legal issues and business objectives. You will be expected to develop a keen understanding of the retail pharmacy business and operational goals of assigned internal clients and work diligently to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients at all levels of the organization.
You will recommend practical and sound advice to internal clients on legal issues related to business objectives and take an active role in driving projects to final result.
Job Description:
Interpret and explain contract terms and conditions and regulations that apply to PBM contracts for internal clients. Analyze and determine business, economic, and operational impact of contract terms and conditions and regulations on CVS Pharmacy. Lead and provide continued support for compliance with those terms and requirements.
Actively participate in the PBM contracting process, including drafting and negotiating a wide variety of agreements.
Provide legal expertise on various initiatives, projects and/or specialized legal matters affecting Payer Relations and perform special research projects.
Work closely and collaboratively with CVS Health legal, compliance and privacy colleagues, including in the regulatory and litigation groups, to support the CVS Pharmacy Payer Relations activities and various retail pharmacy services and programs.
Provide legal and contracting support for retail pharmacy services and programs.
Interpret and explain contract terms and conditions and regulations that apply to contracts for various retail pharmacy services and programs for internal clients. Lead and provide continued support for compliance with contract terms and requirements.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of legal experience with a law firm or healthcare company
Admitted to practice law in at least one state and member in good standing of applicable state bar association(s)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with pharmacy provider arrangements
Strong knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations
Experience in aspects of healthcare related to retail pharmacy services.
Experience drafting and negotiating complex services agreements.
Ability to collaborate effectively and work as a team player.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, initiative, and drive.

The typical pay range for this role is:
$175,100.00 - $334,800.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
