As we continue to expand our product portfolio and market presence, we are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Architect to lead architecture of our next-generation IoT platform, and promote thought leadership supporting our next phase of growth in applications for data centers, industrial automation, and battery energy storage. WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION: Architectural Design: Own the architectural design process and executional plans, considering scalability, performance, reliability, security, cost and maintainability requirements for a segment-wide IoT platform. Work closely with peers to define new platforms and leverage existing technology where possible to ensure compatibility with product portfolios and future needs. Collaborate with team members, including product managers, engineers, and designers, to cascade architectural goals, requirements, and user needs. Leadership and Collaboration: Drive the decision-making process by conducting architectural reviews, providing technical mentorship, and presenting recommendations to the development team and management. Promote a clear vision, staying up to date with industry advancements and advancing innovation within the organization. Technology Evaluation and Integration: Identify and evaluate new technologies and industry trends, and incorporate them into the platform architecture. Work across the organization to ensure alignment and integration with complimentary systems and technologies. Mentorship and Guidance: Mentor and coach engineers on standard processes, design patterns, and software development methodologies critical to the team's growth and success. Identify future risks, act as the technical point of escalation when development efforts are no longer on-track for delivery, and lead mitigation efforts. YOU HAVE: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Extensive experience (at least 10 years) in embedded software development, with a focus on architecting sophisticated systems and platforms. Proven track record of designing and implementing firmware architectures for embedded systems Strong expertise in embedded programming languages, familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and deep understanding of communication protocols commonly used in IoT platforms, such as SNMP, MQTT, and HTTP. Strong experience with security principles and practices, including secure boot, authentication, encryption, and secure firmware updates. Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and encourage technical teams and technically represent the product platform with multi-functional partner teams or leadership. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Availability to work in overlapping time zones with the distributed team. Ability to travel on a regular basis including internationally on occasion.
