Northrop Grumman's Chief Data Office (CDO) is looking for an experienced Data Architect in support of our corporate digital transformation initiatives. This role will lead the design and creation of data models, including business, conceptual, logical, and physical models to represent the organization's data architecture across the enterprise data fabric.
Demonstration of strong data architecture and leadership skills will be expected in this role. The candidate must be able to work independently, have strong communication skills, and be able to interface with key customers and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be able to grasp information quickly and probe when additional information is needed, all while operating in a virtual teaming environment.
This position can be hired at the Principal, or Sr. Principal level, based on the candidate's experience and education.
Your Responsibilities:Enable convergence of disparate data across the product life cycle by aligning the data architecture (model) with Chief Data Office (CDO) Standards and the common data model.Design and create data models, including business, conceptual, logical, and physical models, to represent the organization's data architecture. Translate solution requirements into data architectures by designing and creating the conceptual, logical and physical data architectures and collaborating with other architects to: Document as is state for solutions Design and document future state alignment with the enterprise architecture to enable more effective and efficient interoperability Develop and document transition plans from current to future states Engage with the Enterprise Data Architects on the federated data model approach for model design. Create and maintain documentation of the organization's data architecture, including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and metadata repositories. Ensure that the documentation is up to date and accessible to relevant stakeholders. Define data structures, relationships, and constraints to ensure efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of data as well as alignment to the Enterprise data architecture strategy Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, IT teams, and data engineers. Collaborate on data-related projects and initiatives, providing guidance and expertise. Communicate complex data concepts and strategies to non-technical stakeholders. Design and oversee the implementation of data integration processes, including Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) workflows. Ensure the accurate and efficient movement of data between systems, databases, and data warehouses. Basic Qualifications: Level 3 (Principal) - Bachelors degree in a related discipline, and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience; or 3 years with a Master's degree Level 4 (Sr. Principal) - Bachelors degree in a related discipline, and at least 9 years of relevant professional experience; or 7 years with a Master's degree Demonstrated success in leading teams and/or initiatives. Proven experience as a Data Architect, Solution Architect, Systems Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Substantial experience of systems requirements management, definition, design, integration, acceptance and analysis. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrable knowledge and experience in solution architecting, utilizing techniques and tools to help communicate the solution.In-depth knowledge of data modeling and database design.Experience with data quality and security practices.Evidenced substantial experience in the structured analysis of user needs and solution options within the Defense industry.Experience using Cameo Systems Modeler Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Team leadership or a strong aptitude for managing and developing people. Salary Range: $95,100 - $142,700
Salary Range 2: $117,900 - $176,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
