Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detailed individual for our Software Engineer Intern position in Pullman, WA. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer until graduation.
As a Software Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following:
Building and maintaining full-stack cloud-native software solutions for external customers.
Building and maintaining internal CLI and web services for internal customers.
Researching and documenting emerging technologies and what problems they solve.
Applying research to create and present prototypes to stakeholders.
Triaging and addressing potential security vulnerabilities.
Supporting SEL’s software engineering and lifecycle processes.
Meeting with mentors to improve systems-level thinking and engineering skillsets.
This job might be for you if:
You are a current student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent, with at least one year of technical coursework completed.
You are excited to show off a portfolio of your current work such as school labs or personal projects.
You aren't afraid to admit when you don't know the answer and you enjoy asking questions.
You can learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
You enjoy working cooperatively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building frontends, backends, and databases.
Experience with one or more programming languages such as C#, Typescript, Python, Go, and Java.
Experience with web UI technologies such as React, Vue, Svelte, and Blazor.
Experience with source control systems such as Git.

Pay Range Data
($17.00 - $26.50 per hour)* Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
