Description
Are you interested in helping to develop and field the nation's next generation data fusion and tracking capabilities in support of air and missile defense?
Are you excited by tackling difficult, multi-faceted problems, and integrating systems to achieve a greater capability? If you have experience in multi-domain data fusion and tracking or related applications and capabilities, this is a great opportunity for you!
The AMDS Multi-Domain Surveillance and Tracking Branch is looking for motivatedindividualswho can help us develop improvements to today's data fusion algorithms and realize next generation target tracking capabilities. This includes applying and developing approaches for fusing dissimilar data (e.g., passive and active RF & EO/IR sensor data), ranging from sensor measurement-level to track-level fusion. In addition, the envisioned data fusion solutions may also incorporate other types of relevant contextual information. We are looking for engineers, mathematicians, and physicists who collectively provide the needed experience and skills in data fusion, target tracking, and data analysis to achieve these goals.
As a Sensor Data Fusion Engineer, you will...
Contribute to the development and prototyping of advanced data fusion, target tracking, and state estimation algorithms using physics-based knowledge of various sensors and dynamic motionPerform data analysis to investigate sensor data characteristics, evaluate tracking algorithm effectiveness, and build intuition to guide next stepsIntegrate sensor fusion functions with intelligent sensor control algorithms designed to provide on-demand levels of quality of service in support of targetingCollaborate across APL and work within teams to identify effective tracking solutions meeting the requirements of a larger system architectureInteract and collaborate across the services and communities involved in multi-domain tracking and data fusion to achieve breakthrough improvements in capabilityQualifications
You meet the minimum qualifications for this position if you have:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics Prior relevant professional work experience related to the data fusion and tracking activities described aboveHave some domain knowledge of data fusion, tracking, and/or state estimation using passive or active sensors Experience with MATLAB, Python, C, C++, and/or JavaHave the ability to work effectively on technical teams to solve complex problemsExcellent communications skills, both written and verbalStrong interpersonal skillsHold an active Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have:
An MS or PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, or PhysicsAt least 3 years of relevant professional experience in this fieldExperience with design and evaluation of tracking functions within a system architectureExperience working with ISR&T data fusion and target tracking systemsExperience with passive and active RF signal and EO/IR image processing algorithmsAn Active TS/SCI clearance
