This position will report directly to the U.S. Controller and be an integral member of the Global Controllership organization. This position will oversee and provide expertise in accounting and finance matters including those related to revenue recognition, service revenue accounting and reporting, and revenue-related balance sheet accounts. The position interacts regularly with Finance business partners to ensure adherence to policies and procedures as well as supporting the forecasting process for revenue-related accounting adjustments. The position also advises on business issues arising as part of the monthly close process.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Calculate and oversee revenue-related accounting adjustments for Cardiovascular and Neuroscience portfolios. This includes the oversight of the following accounting processes: Rebates, Sales Administration Fees, Right of Return, Pricing Adjustments, Special Credits, and Cash Discounts. Develop, recommend, and implement changes to processes and controls to increase efficiency, accuracy, and insight.
Develop a thorough understanding of U.S. service revenue processes and related contracts to effectively oversee service revenue accounting and reporting activities. Additionally, prepare financial analysis requested by Finance business partners to enable effective and efficient business decisions.
Consolidate and report on quarterly balance sheet reserves and income statement results, including key fluctuations and trends. Report insights to OU CFOs, OU Finance partners, Americas Region leadership, Corporate Controllership, and External Reporting.
Maintain and oversee U.S. revenue adjustments entered in the Worldwide Revenue (WWR) reporting system which is utilized by executive management to monitor business results. Demonstrate strong working knowledge of WWR reporting and provide timely communication to OU Finance regarding revenue adjustments.Identify opportunities and implement solutions to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of WWR adjustments.
Identify opportunities to leverage data and analytics (for example, PowerBI dashboards) to enhance existing processes, assist with risk identification, and inform decision making.
Execute quarterly and annual reporting (including reserve roll-forward schedules, rebate and return trends, revenue analytics, etc.) for External Auditors and External Reporting in support of audit procedures and public filings.
Provide AOP and Forecast support and financial reporting to U.S. Operating Units for manual revenue adjustments.
Conduct and document accounting activities in accordance with corporate accounting policies (US GAAP), including compliance with all internal control policies and procedures. This includes preparing account reconciliations and the quarterly Revenue Accrual Adjustments memo.
Act as a critical liaison and business partner to the Americas Shared Service center on a variety of U.S. accounting and reporting matters. Assess opportunity for further migration of work to SSCs, COEs, etc. and identify further opportunities for optimization and transformation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of controllership processes.
Collaborate with functional groups such as U.S. Region Rebates, FP&A, Contracts & Pricing, IT, Human Resources, and Legal to understand key initiatives and the overall impact to Medtronic. Use knowledge of Finance policies and U.S. GAAP to identify potential challenges, promptly communicate to both functional and financial management when financial goals are in jeopardy and bring forth innovative recommendations to complex issues. Build a solid working relationship with business partners, gaining their trust to address difficult and confidential situations.
Contribute to (and sometimes lead) cross-functional teams. Requires collaborating with contacts inside and outside of Finance to ensure the required accounting is recorded properly and timely.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of relevant work experience (2+ years with an Advanced degree)Nice to Have
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
Recognized accounting designation such as Certified Public Accountant or equivalent.
Understanding of accounting literature, including accounting standards and other authoritative guidance, and the ability to apply accounting principles and policies to ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
Working knowledge of MDT financial systems (SAP, CXF, CMR, WWR) and Microsoft Excel.
Sound analytical skills; ability to manipulate and interpret data.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Solid business acumen.
Ability to be objective and provide clarity around business performance.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly.
Eagerness to learn and expand responsibilities.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
