Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Software Quality Engineer to help implement test automation for modern software solutions based largely on JavaScript, TypeScript, React, NodeJS, Angular, and other relevant modern technologies. The candidate will join our BDB Software Quality Assurance team to assist with improving software quality in our desktop products, specifically for our automated testing framework and manual QC testing. We are looking for someone with a strong technical experience and problem-solving skills; strong passion, interest and quick learning abilities; someone who is detail oriented with an initiative to drive tasks to completion; and someone who is accountable for results. A candidate should be passionate about software engineering with excellent communication skills. Responsibilities will include:
Job Functions:
Drive improvements in our automated testing framework and application lifecycle management toolchain.Build, refine and manage a suite of automated regression and performance tests.Create and maintain documentation related to testing.Perform general quality control for all desktop products, whether in commercial release or in development.Support product testing and releases as needed.Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends, applying as appropriate.
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, ideally in computer science, informatics, software engineering, or similar.Typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience with test automation and/or manual software testing.Experience with software test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cucumber, Endtest, Ghost Inspector, QF-Test or alternatives.Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js ecosystems.Experience with BitBucket, Git, GitHub, GitKraken or comparable code management tools,Familiarity with Jira, Confluence or other comparable documentation tools.Experience working on development teams using Agile methodologies.Collaborative teammate and culture fit who strives to assist and unblock peers, participates in code reviews, and suggests improvements to processes.A technical attitude with excellent attention to detail.Strong passion for problem solving, continuously learning, adapting, and taking initiative in a rapid-pace Agile environment.
Bonus Qualifications:
Experience with software development for biological research.Experience with CircleCI, Jenkins or comparable CI tools.Experience with AWS or Azure Cloud.Experience with Electron development.Expertise in React, Angular, Vue or another JavaScript framework.2+ years of relevant software engineering experience, e.g., GUI component development.Experience with building configuration code in CI/CD.
