Position Overview:
GEICO is seeking a technical and strategic Senior Director of the Hardware Defined Network (HDN) division. In this role, you will lead a dynamic team of hardware engineers, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions for our network infrastructure. As the Engineering Director of HDN, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our network hardware products and driving the company's technological advancement. The current goal within the infrastructure organization is completely rebuilding the network capability from the ground up.
Your expertise in networking technologies, leadership acumen, and ability to collaborate across teams will be instrumental in driving the success of our network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:Provide strategic direction and technical leadership in the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge hardware-defined network solutions.Lead the architecture and design of network hardware components, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.Team Management:Manage and mentor a team of hardware engineers, fostering their professional growth and skill development.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, systems, and product management to ensure seamless integration of network hardware with software-defined components.Product Development:Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring alignment with company goals and market demands.Collaborate with product management to define product roadmaps, features, and specifications.Innovation and Research:Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in hardware-defined networking, incorporating relevant innovations into our product offerings.Initiate and oversee research initiatives to identify novel solutions that enhance the performance and capabilities of our hardware-defined network.Quality Assurance and Compliance:Establish and enforce robust testing and quality assurance processes to ensure hardware components meet performance, reliability, and security standards.Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards of network hardware.Budget and Resource Management:Manage department budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to optimize costs and maintain high-quality outcomes.Collaboration and Communication:Foster a collaborative environment, promoting open communication and knowledge sharing among team members and cross-functional stakeholders.Present technical updates and progress reports to executive leadership and other relevant stakeholders. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.Proven track record in hardware engineering, including time in a leadership or managerial role.Expertise with OpenStack and OpenCompute ecosystem with successful past implementations.In-depth expertise in hardware-defined networking, network protocols, ASIC/FPGA design, and hardware acceleration technologies.Experience with automation and orchestration tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, or Kubernetes, is valuable. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and experience in automating deployment and management tasks in a hybrid cloud environment is beneficial.Strong understanding of software-defined networking (SDN) principles and their integration with hardware-defined components.Excellent leadership and team management skills with a passion for mentoring and fostering professional growth.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset.Effective communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Experience in budget management, resource allocation, and vendor collaboration.Industry certifications (e.g., CCIE, CISSP) and knowledge of network security best practices are a plus.#LI-WB1
Annual Salary
$195,000.00 - $315,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
