Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East is currently seeking a Senior Client Employee Benefits Advisor. The Senior Client Employee Benefits Advisor reports to the Senior Director, Legal Practice Support and the Employee Benefits Practice Group and is assigned to work closely with attorneys, Senior Client Employee Benefits Consultants, and clients on all matters relating to Firm clients' employee benefit plans and programs.
This position may reside in our Washington, DC, New York, Philadelphia, or Pittsburgh office.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Review statutory, regulatory and other governmental pronouncements to assess the impact on clients' employee benefit plans.Prepare and amend employee benefit plans to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and to implement plan design changes.Prepare and revise summary plan descriptions and other employee communications.Advise clients on how to resolve compliance issues and other technical matters that arise in the day-to-day administration of their employee benefit plans and programs.Assess impact of corporate transactions (mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, etc.) on clients' employee benefit plans.Prepare IRS determination letter requests and other governmental filings.At the direction of practice group attorneys, assist Firm Benefits Department in connection with issues and concerns that arise in the administration of the Firm's employee benefit plans.Participate in client pitches and prepare client development materials.Assist in preparation of Employee Benefits Practice Group MLBenebits blog posts, LawFlashes and Webcasts.Conduct internal benefit compliance audits of client benefit plans, policies and practices.Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience/Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.A minimum of five (5) years of related experience as a member of a benefits consulting team, client service team or a law firm team in the employee benefits practice area.Experience with both retirement and health and welfare employee benefit plans desired, and Certified Employee Benefits Specialist certification preferred.
