Join the highly professional Auditor-Controller's office and complete a variety of complex accounting, statistical and narrative reports vital to producing accurate and timely financial statements for the County of Nevada. This advanced lead level opportunity requires outstanding judgment and accounting skills critical to the review and audit of County departments' financial records. Other key proficiencies include the ability to:
Perform and coordinate complex accounting and financial analyses
Identify and interpret technical and numerical information
Observe and solve operational or procedural problems
Analyze and evaluate accounting systems and financial programs
Design improvements and controls for assigned operations
Interpret and apply legal, regulatory and administrative controls to accounting functions
Train, mentor, and assist with evaluation of subordinates
Demonstrate effective written and spoken communication
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
A Senior Accountant-Auditor is an integral part of the Auditor-Controller's team! This position is crafted for individuals who have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Also, three years of progressively responsible, professional or journey level accounting or auditing experience is required. Experience with governmental accounting or auditing is preferred!

Nevada County employees can opt to receive dental and vision insurance without opting for health insurance coverage as well. This will give employees more flexibility to match their choice of insurance plans to their specific needs. Delta Dental is the dental provider offered through Nevada County and VSP Vision Care is our vision care provider.
Retirement
The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
