DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The role available involves carrying out a range of tasks that require a certain level of skill in the maintenance, operation, and protection of the Loyalsock State Forest. These tasks include the upkeep of district facilities and landscapes, such as cleaning, mowing, trimming, mulching, painting, garbage collection, recycling, snow removal, and general repairs. The work will involve using hand tools, power equipment, and chemicals as instructed. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining trails and boundary lines within the forest district, which may involve constructing, repairing, clearing trees and vegetation, and marking trails. As part of your responsibilities, you will also be expected to perform regular preventative maintenance, pre- and post-inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs on hand tools, power tools, motorized equipment, and vehicles under the guidance of your supervisor. In the event of a wildfire, you will assist with district fire suppression efforts using hand tools, power tools, and power water pumps to extinguish the fires. Furthermore, you may be required to assist with search and rescue operations and other emergency operations as directed. It is important to note that you will only be assigned tasks for which you are qualified, as outlined in your task book. Seasonal, full-time employment without benefitsWork hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunchThis position is eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS). QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training.Condition of Employment:
