AbbVie Biologics Analytical Research & Development (Biologics ARD) is a global analytical sciences organization responsible for all CMC analytical activities related to the development of AbbVie's therapeutic biologic products. The Analytical Innovation and Mass Spectrometry group within Biologics ARD is responsible for support of programs throughout their lifecycle. The team develops state-of-the-art analytical techniques for the characterization of antibody drug conjugates (ADC) and other novel biologic molecules using mass spectrometry and other advanced analytical techniques. Key deliverables include the development and execution of state of the art analytical methods, extended characterization of biologic molecules and work on cross-functional teams to develop ADC conjugation processes and drug product strategies. A successful candidate for this position will serve as a technical expert that will be able to: independently investigate, identify, develop and optimize new methods/ techniques to address critical project needs, continuously seek to improve existing laboratory methods and processes, read and adapt literature to accomplish assignments, and demonstrate mastery of broad range of experimental techniques and methods of data analysis.

Author technical documents (e.g., methods, protocols, reports, etc.), scientific publications, presentations, and regulatory documents.
BS or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience or MS or equivalent education with typically 2 or more years of experience in a scientific discipline (e.g., Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology) with previous laboratory experience
Practical experience and strong knowledge of protein HPLC (e.g., SEC, IEX, HIC), capillary electrophoresis, and/or other separation techniques as applied to protein analysis. Empower expertise preferred.
Should possess an understanding of protein chemistry and biochemistry, particularly as related to biologics drug development.
Maintain a laboratory notebook in compliance with Good Laboratory/Manufacturing Practices.
Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute and interpret critical experiments to answer scientific questions.
Demonstrated ability to learn, understand, and master new experimental techniques.
Ability to multitask and work within timelines.
Demonstrated scientific writing skills and strong verbal communication skills.
