This Risk Manager will join a talented and high-performing Credit and Market Risk (CMR) team that oversees credit and market risks across The Hartford and a wider set of risks of the Hartford Investment Management Company (HIMCO) subsidiary. The Credit and Market Risk Team is the independent second line risk function with responsibilities for identifying, monitoring, managing and reporting risks across the firm as note above. This Investment Risk leader will report to the team leader of the Portfolio Risk team and will be based in our Hartford, CT Home Office on a hybrid basis.
The Hartford is proud to offer a hybrid work location model that is designed to support flexibility. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are designated as enterprise core days, when we expect most employees in hybrid work arrangements to come to the office.
Responsibilities
Drive risk identification and monitoring of market and credit risks within investment grade and high yield corporate sectors as well as General Account sectors.Additional ownership of new and existing Aladdin models via reviewing, testing and validation on behalf of the CMR team.Develop risk measurement, aggregation, and monitoring of relevant risk metrics and analytics, including stress testing for corporate, high yield and related sectors.Partner with investment teams and other investment functions (e.g., performance, pricing) to help manage key market and credit risks.Report and communicate risks to CMR team leaders and portfolio managers as well as traders and credit analysts as needed.Conduct regular meetings with portfolio managers, credit analysts and performance team staff to enhance risk management efforts.Participate as an active member on CMR's stress testing unit to enhance its framework and develop stress tests on a monthly basis.Conduct market research as appropriate to strengthen risk analyses capabilities.
Experience & Skills
Minimum of eight years of experience in fixed income risk management with hands-on model development experience required, preferably in a buy side setting.Master's or PhD in hard sciences, computer science, economics or related fields. Alternatively, holding an ASA/ACAS or FSA/FCAS and/or relevant undergraduate degree with pertinent work experience.Demonstrated quantitative finance skillsHands-on experience with Aladdin, Bloomberg or similar third-party risk and performance systems.Utilization of one or more of: Python, R, VBA or related languages.Ability to communicate and collaborate across multiple functions and forge strong working relationships to drive results.Curiosity and inquisitiveness with proven problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.Skilled at working in a dynamic environment with changing ad-hoc priorities while managing longer-term projects.Organized and detail oriented.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
