About Risk Director, Strategy, Product, Marketing and Communications (SPMC)

  The Risk Director role will lead the risk agenda for the Strategy, Product, Marketing and Communications (SPMC) division at Vanguard in the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of risks across the division. As a member of the Enterprise Risk Management leadership team (a department within the Global Risk and Security division), will also help drive and lead the department - helping ensure prioritized outcomes are delivered to further the Vanguard risk management agenda. This role reports to the Global Head of Enterprise Risk Management.

   Responsibilities: Hires, evaluates, and manages crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures. Leads and facilitates risk councils at the Managing Director table for SPMC, and sub-divisional tables - focusing on effective risk management of top risks, including help identify risk appetite, key risk indicators and effective management of those risks. Ability to engage and lead risk efforts covering critical enterprise risks relating to SPMC and helps design and implement mitigation strategies to manage and monitor those risks. Oversees and helps design business controls oversight activities for multiple business lines. Identifies, measures, and monitors operational risk. Provides clarity of policies, procedures, internal controls, risk management, and reporting systems. Oversees risk activities for the SPMC division and makes key decisions that provide strategic direction for business controls. Leads and manages the development, implementation, and management of oversight, control management programs, and risk mitigation. Maintains accordance with industry best practice, defined standards, domestic regulatory requirements, or other standard management processes. Owns periodic assessments of key controls for multiple business lines across the division. Provides leadership to business partners on control design and effectiveness. Leads strategy to increase effectiveness of those controls. Provides cross-enterprise leadership and engagement on reputational and strategic risks that impact all divisions. Builds and maintains strategic relationships to support the risk framework. Provides leadership necessary to create control awareness, ownership and accountability to business units and crew. Maintains an expert level of Vanguard and industry knowledge. Keeps current on Vanguard policies and objectives, continues to expand knowledge of the business and industry, and keeps current on competition. Reviews all applicable current and future regulatory requirements to ensure effective controls, procedures and oversight reviews are in place. Qualifications:

  Minimum of ten years related work experience. Supervisory experience preferred. Prior second or third-line experience is valuable but not required. Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred. About Global Risk & Security and SPMC
