Preferred Qualifications: Supervision and mentorship experience. Demonstrated experience giving oral presentations and preparing written manuscripts for publication in refereed journals. Experience in data visualization. Position Summary: The Rogers lab works at the intersection of horticultural and entomology to develop ecological-based strategies to improve production of vegetables and fruit for organic and local markets. We collaborate with local growers and community members to create realistic, adaptable pest management recommendations. This work involves research in both laboratory and field environments in small fruit and vegetable production systems. Research management (50%) * Acquire supplies & materials for research projects * Setup and maintain research experiments * Maintain laboratory colonies of insects * Establish and manage controlled environment experiments * Maintain and troubleshoot microclimate data sensors * Coordinate research trials, including managing communication with project partners * Assist with arrangement and facilitation of research meetings and conference calls * Develop and adhere to research protocols Data collection, analysis, and scientific communication (40%) * Collect and manage field and laboratory data, with emphasis on organization, curation, and accessibility * Analyze and interpret quantitative data with sound statistics * Contribute to analysis and writing for research reports and academic publications * Contribute to poster and research presentations for dissemination Supervise undergraduate workers (10%) * Help train and mentor undergraduate researchers * Schedule and coordinate research activities for undergraduate technicians Benefits Working at the University At the University of Minnesota, you'll find a flexible work environment and supportive colleagues who are interested in lifelong learning.
